Privacy Policy

Talkzy is a teleprompter and video recorder for iPhone and iPad. This policy says how the app uses your camera, microphone and voice, and which data leaves your device.
Summary
Your scripts, your voice and your videos do not leave your device (scripts go to your own iCloud only if you turn on iCloud sync, and to another person only when you send one as a link yourself). Talkzy has no server of its own and no account system.
Two kinds of data are sent out: purchase data, through RevenueCat, so the app knows whether you have bought Talkzy Pro; and anonymous usage statistics, through Google Analytics for Firebase, which you can turn off in Settings. Details below.
Script links
In Talkzy you can send a script as a link (talkzy-app.vercel.app/s#…). The script is compressed into the part of the link after the # — the part a browser never sends to a server. So the script is not uploaded to this website, to Vercel or anywhere else: the /s page unpacks and shows it on the reader’s device, and that page has no analytics.
Anyone with the link can read the script, so send it only to people you mean to. Opened in the app, a link only shows a preview; the script is added only when the recipient taps Add.
Speech recognition
When you turn on voice-follow, Talkzy asks for Speech Recognition permission. It uses only Apple’s on-device recognizers (SpeechAnalyzer, or SFSpeechRecognizer with on-device recognition required). If your language has no on-device recognizer, Talkzy offers timed scrolling instead — it never falls back to server-based recognition.
The recognized words are used only to find your place in the script, in the moment. They are not stored and not sent anywhere.
Camera and microphone
Talkzy asks for camera and microphone access to record your takes, and uses the microphone to listen while voice-follow is on. They are active only while the recording screen or voice-follow is open.
Video and audio are written to the app’s private storage on the device. They are not sent to Apple, to me, or to anyone else.
Photos
If you turn on saving to Photos, Talkzy asks for permission to add each take to your library, and for access to create an album named after the script. Talkzy does not read or upload your other photos and videos.
Data that does leave your device
Talkzy uses RevenueCat to manage Talkzy Pro purchases. When the app starts, and when you buy or restore, RevenueCat’s SDK sends its servers:
- An anonymous app user ID generated by RevenueCat — not your name, email or an account.
- The device identifier Apple gives developers (identifier for vendor).
- Your Talkzy Pro purchase history and subscription status.
This data serves one purpose: knowing whether Pro is unlocked. It is not linked to your identity and not used for advertising.
Payment itself is handled by Apple. Talkzy never sees your card details.
Anonymous usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
Since version 1.1 (build 6), Talkzy uses Google Analytics for Firebase to count how the app is used, so we can see which features help and where people get stuck. It is on by default and you can turn it off at any time in Talkzy → Settings → Privacy → “Share anonymous usage statistics”. When it is off, the app sends no analytics events at all.
What is sent: app interactions from a fixed list (for example “a script was created by pasting”, “the prompter was opened with the camera”, “a take was saved, 1–3 minutes long”, “the paywall was shown or closed”, “a purchase succeeded or failed”), the names of the screens you open, whether you have Pro, the app language, and what Google Analytics adds on its own: a random app-instance ID, device model, iOS and app version, and a coarse location (country or region) that Google derives from your IP address.
What is never sent: your scripts or their titles, anything you type, your voice, videos or recognized words, file names or paths, precise location, contacts, your name or email, and the advertising identifier (IDFA). Talkzy does not include Apple’s AdSupport framework, never shows the App Tracking Transparency prompt, and turns off ad storage, ad personalization signals and the identifier for vendor in Google Analytics.
Google processes this data on our behalf as a service provider; it is not linked to your identity and not used for advertising or to track you across apps. Event data is kept for 2 months (the Google Analytics default) and then deleted; aggregated reports may be kept longer. What is never collected
- Your scripts, voice, videos or recognized words
- Name, email, phone number, contacts
- Precise location
- The advertising identifier (IDFA)
Talkzy contains no advertising SDK and does not track you across other apps or websites. Its only analytics is the anonymous usage statistics described above, which you can turn off. If that ever changes, this policy and the App Store privacy label will be updated before that build ships.
Data stored on your device
Scripts, takes, settings and the count of free voice-follow takes used are stored in the app’s private storage. Only scripts are synced, and only to your own iCloud, if you turn on iCloud sync (Pro).
Deleting a script or take in the app, or deleting the app, removes that data. Copies saved to Photos stay in Photos until you delete them.
When you share
When you share a take, iOS opens the share sheet and the file goes where you choose. If you email support, the email goes through your own Mail app.
Children
Talkzy has no user-generated content from others and no in-app web browser. It does not knowingly collect data from children.
Your rights
Because there is no account, there is no personal profile on our side for you to access or delete. If you want the anonymous user ID held by RevenueCat deleted, email me and I will take care of it.
To stop anonymous usage statistics, turn off “Share anonymous usage statistics” in Talkzy’s Settings. Deleting the app resets its random app-instance ID, and past event data expires after 2 months.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted in the App Store release notes.
